Doctor Soanes

Vice-Chancellor, Helen Langton, Honorary Doctor, Zeb Soanes and Dr. Amanda Hodgkinson

In a formal ceremony at Great Yarmouth Minster today, Zeb was awarded Honorary Doctor of the University of Suffolk.

In her oration, Dr. Amanda Hodkinson said, ‘

“What an inspiration to us all you are Zeb, your drive, enthusiasm and resilience which has brought so much to so many and continues to do so – thank you. Today, we recognise you for your outstanding contribution to education, music, media, literature and your role in the university’s developing ambitious plans for culture and heritage and your very public endorsement and celebration of Suffolk.”

In his acceptance speech, Zeb paid particular tribute to his parents, Rev. Robert and Jeanette Soanes, saying they had been a source of constant support and inspiration — and offered some words of wisdom to his fellow graduates.
