In a joyous homage to the Great British summer, The Bibby Sisters: Nicola and Alexandra will perform an evening of sparkling piano duets with poetry and prose read by familiar radio voices Carole Boyd and Zeb Soanes.
The programme will include music by George Gershwin, Saint Saens, Piazzolla and Elgar with words by Dylan Thomas, Charles Causley and Willy Rushton.
Performed in the atmospheric setting of St. Paul's, Covent Garden. Known as The Actors' Church, the walls are filled with tributes to the great British actors of stage and screen.
An uplifting evening of music and poetry in the heart of London's Theatreland.
The Bibby Sisters and Carole Boyd
Sisters Nicola and Alexandra (aka the Bibby Piano Duo) joined forces with Carole Boyd - perhaps best known for her creation of Lynda Snell in The Archers - to create programmes of words and music fifteen years ago and have been much in demand ever since at festivals, stately homes, universities, music societies and concert halls throughout the UK, including: Holkham Hall, the Cheltenham Festival, Houghton Hall, Blairquhan Castle, the Stratford Poetry Festival and the Purcell Room on London’s South Bank.
The trio explore a wide range of themes in an imaginative and dynamic way. Music dovetails with words, combining the duo’s broad repertoire with poetry and dramatic literature from all periods in programmes that are expressive, stimulating and often hilarious.
They are delighted to be bringing Recollections of Summer to the Actor's Church and are especially thrilled to be joined by Zeb Soanes who collaborated with Carole recently on a new recording of Walton's Façade.
